Should marijuanna be legalized in the U.S.?

Our prison polulation is overcrowded, and everytime someone goes to prison for using, possessing, or selling pot, we pay for their crime thru taxes. And I saw a statistic that said over 60% or our prison population is there for drug related charges. Now I know that alot of them are there because of other types of drugs, but if marijuanna was legal, I'm sure that we'd have a whole lot less people in our prison system. And its a proven fact that its not as bad for you as most of the prescription medications that are given for anxiety, pain, and other ailments. Plus if the government marketed them like cigarettes, they'd actually make some money off it. Yes and No answers are o.k., but those with reason behind the yes or no gets best answer.
