Creationists, where did all the nothingness come from?
creationists often claim that it's absurd to believe that universe could form on its own. they will recite the laws of the conservation of matter and energy. that being: in the universe, matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed. so they usually only look at the created part of this law and completely ignore the destroyed part. so creationists, isn't it equally absurd to ume there was at one time absolute nothingness, no matter and no energy. if there was absolute nothingness, wouldn't something have had to have been destroyed to achieve it? bear in mind, i realize the absurdity of this question. it is merely to point out to creationist how absurd the idea of something coming from nothing is. why is it natural to ume that nothing is the starting point? the law of conservation of matter and energy doesn't imply this. isn't it just as likely if not more likely that there was an initial form of matter and energy in the universe?
