I like my best friend (a guy) so much it's turing into love?

ok this guy named alex is the cutest thing in the world. there is lots of problems tho. 1. he doesn't like me (at least i think) 2. hes my best friend 3. he is a popular hottie a most of the girls like him. and i think that is it. i dream about him from time to time and i always wanted to kiss him. but i know its never gonna happen. what should i do? i dont wanna ruin our friendship by telling him this when he doesnt feel the same way and but i really wanna see if he does like me in case if he is lying. i have liked him for 3 years and i cant seem to get over him. he first time i met him i knew i will never like anyone like i like him again (that was kind of confusing lol) someone please help me
